Ballet
While we specialize in classical ballet technique, we also offer other classes such as tap, jazz, character dance, and contemporary based on students ballet technique level...
Curricular ballet begins with Ballet IA for our 7-year olds. Each year of study, new technical material is added to the curriculum. In this way, levels become technically more demanding and artistic development is nurtured. The curriculum is paced so in each level as students gain new material they are developing the muscular foundation to support themselves on pointe as well as arrive to the introductory pointe level at an appropriate age. As the students continue to develop and grow, level placement is based on ability and comprehension, rather than age.
While we specialize in classical ballet technique, we also offer other classes such as tap, jazz, character dance, and contemporary based on students ballet technique level, as well as physical and cognitive development. Fort Wayne Ballet is fortunate to have international faculty, who have both performing and academic professional backgrounds. For 36 weeks of the year, we teach over 92 hours of classes every week, with eight more weeks of classes offered in the summer.

Ladies' Hair
Hair below the ears must be tied back from the face and securely fastened to the head in a bun (hair nets and pins may be purchased at a beauty supply store or most drug stores). This is for comfort as well as ensuring the development of proper alignment. For young children, if their hair is too short, please ensure that it is pinned up so the teacher may clearly view your child's neck.

How To Enroll:
To enroll in Ballet IA classes, call 260-484-9646 and speak with the Academy Administrator who can email or mail you the appropriate paperwork. You can also email the Academy Administrator from the contact page.
Transfer Student Placement:
Students transfer to the Academy of Fort Wayne Ballet for various reasons. They may have recently moved to
the area or their current teacher may encourage them to continue their studies with us. Depending on the
number of years they have taken strictly ballet classes, they usually take a placement class where the Academy
Principal observes them and then makes a recommendation. Placement classes are a great way to get to know
the Academy and do not obligate a student to enroll in classes. If you are interested in arranging a placement
class for your student, please contact the Academy Administrator at 260-484-9646.
