T.I.L.T. Program

The Fort Wayne Ballet T.I.L.T. Program was created with the mission to encourage the development of multiple intelligences through the symbolic language of dance. T.I.L.T. (Teaching though Innovative Learning Techniques) was developed to incorporate academic interests through dance concepts. Students engage in a creative movement class that teaches the elements of dance (Space, Time, Force, Body, Steps) in direct correlation with academic skills such as literacy, math, science, and social interaction. Dance instructors address relevant academic interests, help children discover the joy in movement, promote healthy life habits, and encourage children to use movement as a means of self-expression and creative thought. The T.I.L.T. program is easily adapted to suit any school or organization in achieving their student's academic goals. Examples of co-curricular classes might include: language arts skills such as letter formation and vocabulary integrated with creative dance movement; movement inspired by poetry or stories; using tempo, rhythm, and repetition to understand simple math equations; using the scientific principles of space and time in relation to movement as a group or individual; and studying various cultures through music and movement. T.I.L.T. can be brought to organizations in one-time visits, four-week exploratory programs, and even long-term programs, according to the organization's needs.
