Arts United Center

Arts United Center

The Arts United Center is owned and operated by Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne. Designed by architect Louis I. Kahn, Arts United Center opened for performances in 1973. Mr. Kahn's describes his concept for the theatre, "The auditorium built in concrete as an independent shape and structure, was placed within surrounding space, having its own roof and outside walls. Inner delicate sounds protected from freer and courser sounds…A whisper on the stage must be heard by everyone in the audience. This motivated the thought of the "Violin and Violin Case." The place of the voice is the "violin" - the stage and people. The "case" is the entrance, lobby and all other outside services."

The Arts United Center is a mainstay in the arts landscape of our community. While providing a venue for community organizations, it continues to be the home theatre for Fort Wayne Civic Theatre, Fort Wayne Youtheatre and Fort Wayne Ballet as well as an integral player in Fort Wayne Philharmonic's performance season.
