Two of our main stage productions offer an opportunity for area schools to provide arts education for their students by attending an abbreviated performance. School performances (known as In-Theatre) provide a docent program prior to the performance, a 45 minute performance followed by a question/answer opportunity. All In-Theatre performances are held at the Arts United Center located at 303 E Main Street, Fort Wayne.

Docent programs offer students an opportunity to learn more about dance through three stations. Students are led through the stations and discussions at each station are facilitated by our student dancers, most of whom will be dancing on stage during the performance. The first stage is a brief discussion and demonstration of basic ballet technique; the second stage is an opportunity to learn more about the different types and styles of shoes worn by dancers; the third stage is an opportunity to learn more about costumes and costume styles. Cross-curricular books are supplied to all teachers providing materials to assist in incorporating their students' theatre experience into the classroom.

Act II of The Nutcracker is featured in early December. Selections from Giselle will be performed in the spring. All performances are kept to 45 minutes to enable students to return to their schools in a timely manner.

Following each performance, a question/answer session is lead by Fort Wayne Ballet's Executive/Artistic Director, Karen Gibbons-Brown. Students are offered an opportunity to ask the dancers questions. During the question/answer session, busses return to the Arts United Center and students are released when their buses are ready to be loaded.

Tickets for In-Theatre performances are $4 per student. One ticket for every 8 student tickets is provided free for chaperones. Home School families are also encouraged to attend our In-Theatre performances. Tickets for home school families are $4/each.

• 10am, December 7, 2007 - The Nutcracker
• 10am, March 14, 2008 - Giselle

School Delays or Cancellations:  Should Fort Wayne community schools experience a two-hour delay or school cancellation on March 14th, 2008, our 10:00am school, In-Theatre performance will be canceled not to be rescheduled.  All participants will receive a refund.
If your school is located outside Fort Wayne Community School's district, and you experience a delay or cancellation, you will receive a refund.
