       Why Fort Wayne Ballet...
Discipline, quality, creativity, professionalism; these are all qualities that parents want to integrate in their child’s lifetime. Fort Wayne Ballet facilitates in developing these and many others qualities that all ages can take with them throughout their lives. Parents only want the best for their child while in a healthy environment to foster and nurture them. What more could you ask for in your own backyard?  Fort Wayne Ballet truly has a wonderful program that allows all ages to experience dance in many different ways. It is not just another dance program, it is a collaboration of those who are passionate and appreciate dance for dance sake.
To many of the dancers, Fort Wayne Ballet is almost like a second home. Dancers find themselves here to challenge themselves, and indulge in the dance world.  The simplicity, elegance, and ease of a dancer only materializes through years of quality development and training at such a dance program like Fort Wayne Ballet. Students experience a well-rounded and professional program that prepares them to move to the next level, whether they choose to dance for a profession or not. Dance education at Fort Wayne Ballet is not just ballet class, although it is the foundation to all dance forms. Everything from jazz, tap, partnering, character, Labanotation, dance history and terminology, music theory, and contemporary are offered to the students. Although this only names just a few of the types of classes that are offered, the exposure to all these dance forms allow the students to investigate and observe just what peak their interests. No, we are all not going to be ballerinas, premier danseurs, or dance teachers; but the possibilities are endless and Fort Wayne Ballet helps open your eyes and think outside the box.
Students at Fort Wayne Ballet are apart of a program that brings in dance professionals from all over the world. Some of these professionals dance in performances along side some of our students, some choreograph, and some come to teach and allow the students to experience something new. We are very fortunate to have such wonderful and world-class teachers to come and work with our students. Karen Gibbons-Brown has brought the school and company to where it is today, while continuing to bring in teachers such as Jeremy Blanton to work with and coach the dancers. Karen Gibbons-Brown and our guest teachers push the dancers to go above and beyond what they thought they could ever do, which facilitates in helping the dancers move to the next level. Really, what more could you ask for? All of these experiences enrich the lives and memories for our dancers, which they will take with them. Many students go on to participate in prestigious summer intensives and placed in professional dance companies throughout the country. The little things exude great importance in the dance world and Fort Wayne Ballet not only prepares our dancers physically, but mentally and emotionally.
Fort Wayne Ballet allows the students to gain discipline and professionalism, and that is why so many choreographers enjoy coming to work with the dancers. Dancer and Choreographer, David Ingram, enjoys coming back to Fort Wayne Ballet because he sees the trust the dancers and artistic staff have with him, and he enjoys seeing the willingness to try something new, different, and exciting. It is not everyday that you see dancers in tutus at Freiman Square dancing in the fountain, representing the United States in Europe, or dancers in a parking garage collaborating with other professionals from around the country in a performance. Some of these experiences are one of a kind and rare for professionally-tracked students. Performing truly is a privilege at Fort Wayne Ballet that many are lucky to be involved and contributing their talents. Many of the students in our academy and conservatory program have the privilege to perform full-length ballets, and new contemporary works along side our professional dancers. Everyone from the Blossoms in Nutcracker to the Wilis in Giselle present a well prepared performance when that opening night comes, that exceeds expectations.

Many dancers and families will agree that Karen Gibbons-Brown has turned Fort Wayne Ballet

into a wonderful environment to train and nurture dancers. We can not adequately express just how

privileged we are to have such an inspiring and wonderful person for our students and professionals

to work with. The ballet would not be the same if she were not here. Fort Wayne Ballet offers a

quintessential look into the world of ballet for both the dancers and the community. Correct

development, education, and inspiration allows everyone to enjoy dance. Ballet sweeps both the

dancers and the audience to a wonderful world of fairies, love, grace, elegance, strength and

happiness. The magic of ballet exist in hearts everywhere, in both the young and the old, so come

join us for a magical experience. Fort Wayne Ballet is a gem and truly is the place to be!
